Playgroup Australia stands against racism

Celebrating Inclusion

At playgroup we welcome all families with children under age six.

Playgroup is a meeting place for parents and caregivers to support each other and share stories about raising children, and a safe place where children can play, share, connect and grow with other children.

We know that children who attend playgroup are less likely to be developmentally vulnerable when they start school and that playgroup families support each other.

Playgroup Australia stands with SNAICC in calling for children to be a priority for Black Lives to Matter.

We call on all in our playgroup village to welcome and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their caregivers, as well as others who experience or are at risk of racism.

Together we can make playgroups places of safety, kindness, joy and learning so that all playgroup children grow up free of racism and embracing diversity.

Playgroups that would like to take action may wish to include songs, play and stories about our Australian indigenous culture and heritage in their activities.

Listen and Learn

Playgroup Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play, work and live and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respect to them and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
