About Intergenerational Playgroups
Intergenerational Playgroups offer a unique opportunity for the young and young at heart to come together to play. Sessions are delivered in aged care, retirement living, early learning centres, and even online. Parents, caregivers, residents, and children under five, meet and play together. The diverse range of play activities:
- are mutually beneficial for all participants
- promote early childhood social and physical development
- increase parental peer support networks
- provide a vital opportunity for isolated residents to reconnect through positive community interactions.
Intergenerational Playgroups are a National Initiative
To date, Intergenerational Playgroup initiatives have grown simply through word of mouth and community collaborations. Through our 2019 Ageless Play campaign and in partnership with the ABC TV + iview and industry stakeholders, we inspired and supported positive intergenerational connections reaching even more communities through play for all ages.
With sufficient funding, donations and support from individuals looking to make a difference – we will be able to reach even more communities by growing these connections. Help us to support the development of more Intergenerational Playgroups across Australia by making a donation.
